Meta generates 10–20 variations at once. Auto-fed into the ad set.
2. Placement optimization
Different aspect ratios for Stories, Reels, and Feed — all handled automatically. No need to manually produce three versions.
3. Policy compliance
AI-generated text and images operate within Meta's ad policy guardrails. Low risk of policy violations.
4. Unified measurement
Per-variation performance shows up in one place in Ads Manager. Winners auto-selected.
What external AI is good at
1. Generating new concepts (0→1)
Advantage+ handles variations of existing creative. New concepts and new styles are better suited to external AI.
Examples:
- Launching a new product line → 10 concept images from Midjourney
- Completely new brand tone → 20 copy drafts from Claude
2. Brand-unique styles
Advantage+ produces generic styles. If you want a distinctive mood or tone that's uniquely yours, external AI + prompt control is the way.
3. Diverse formats
Video, infographics, animation — formats Advantage+ can't handle go to external tools.
Parallel combination (in practice)
Step 1: Generate originals with external AI
- Midjourney: 5–10 lifestyle images
- ChatGPT: 10–15 copy variants
- Runway: 3–5 fifteen-second videos
Step 2: Curate and edit (human)
- Pick 2–3 matching brand tone
- Add logo and branding in Canva or Photoshop

Mistake 1: Only using external AI for creative, Advantage+ Creative off

- Result: Weird variations appearing
